University of North Carolina Charlotte
Department of Chemistry

Master of Science Degree in Chemistry | Financial Support

Chemistry graduate students generally support their education through teaching or research assistantships available to qualified applicants through the department. Current academic year T.A. support is up to $13,500, with excellent opportunities for additional summer support. The department also sponsors the Gary Howard Research Fellowship competition, which provides significantly greater support to one highly qualified applicant. Tuition waivers are also available to external applicants through the Thomas Walsh Tuition Fellowships.

Many faculty may offer research assistantships to qualified students. Faculty research in the Department of Chemistry is funded in part by competitive grants obtained from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Dreyfus Foundation, American Chemical Society, North Carolina Biotechnology Center, Research Corporation, UNC Charlotte Foundation, and private industry.
